This tutorial will explain how to make a product box.

1. After you’ve opened up Illustrator and started a new file, activate the Rectangle Tool or use the quick key “M”. You will then make a shape of a box like I have.

2. Duplicate the current rectangle by selecting it, press CTRL+C and CTRL+V. Then press “V” to activate the Selection Tool. Click on the rectangle and move it down a bit like I’ve done.

3. Now activate the Pen Tool by pressing “P”. Now mouse over the top left corner of the rectangle in the back and connect the corners to form the side. Repeat the same procedure for the top.

4. Now you will create the shadow. Still using the Pen Tool, mouse over the bottom left corner of the rectangle in the back and draw the shadow accordingly. While your new creation is still selected, select the Gradient Tool by pressing “G”. Then press CTRL+[ until the new shadow is behind the box.

5. Now you can add text however you like. Activate the Type Tool by pressing “T”. Place the text where you wish. The red corner was added by using the pen tool and created just like the side and top of the box only in red color. I also added a rounded rectangle as a background for the whale I used which is only a wingding pet or you can add any other image you want to the box. The bubbles are just white circles and the bottom is just a crazy pen tool line. I also decided to apply a gradient to the top and side of the box.

That’s it! You’re done.
