The ONE Campaign!

3D News 24Jul09 | 0

In the latest issue of Post Magazine, I came across a cool little article about Luxology’s Modo. Modo is a 3D animation, painting, modeling and rendering package. I remember seeing the first version of Modo at Siggraph a long time ago. One day perhaps, I’ll have a go at this program but I’m already busy with 3ds Max, Maya, ZBrush and soon Mudbox :D

Anyway, I thought the screenshot in the article was fantastic. It showed one of its new features, a clear coat shader that is for vehicles! It creates the lacquer or top coat surface common to automobiles or vehicles. You can customize the shine, diffusion and reflective intensity which lays beneath the clear coat, how cool is that! Plus an extensive volumetric lighting engine for architectural renderings has been added as well. Another cool thing, is that the new version of ZBrush coming out in August will allow real time pushing of your model to each program without having to close/open, you just hit the nifty button and then it ports it to ZBrush…you work in that for a bit, push another shiny button and it’ll port the model back to Modo (Max..Maya) :) I loooove Pixologic. They’re so innovative and truly love their community.

Other news, Siggraph is almost here again but I cannot attend :( I will definitely make it to the Los Angeles date next year though!

As for the rest of my site to be updated, I’m still working on some projects and will try to get to everything as soon as I can! There literally isn’t enough time in one day to do everything that you’d like to do.
